This is your last chance to visit and contribute to the South London Black Music Archive at Peckham Space! Sort of art meets design meets music meets our life stories.

'Bring your music and memorabilia down and receive a free limited edition vinyl artwork in exchange for taking part.

Then join us this Friday 23 March 6-10pm for the closing party.  Meet the design team Åbäke for a talk about the voodoo of musical ephemera followed by music from NTS Live DJs David & Francis from The Hot Selection who will be playing their very own legacy tunes.  We’ll provide the drinks.  We hope to see you there!'

Went to the Private View at the Fashion & Textiles Museum in Bermondsey Street, near London Bridge. Zandra Rhodes, the founder of the museum was there to open the show, with her pink hair, looking great.  The couple from Denver who had collected most of the pieces being shown were also there - she in an amazing outfit, black & white checks with red spots.

There were some fantastic textiles. The exhibition is well worth a visit.

Zandra talked about Textile & Surface Designers being the Cinderellas of the design industry - of how rarely we know their names, of how little they are credited as having importance - and yet how much their work is integral to the enjoyment we take in what we wear & how we enhance the environments around us. Camac aims to be part of the movement to increase awareness of Textile & Surface Design!

The 4th Edition of Wrap Magazine is out now . . . Wrap Magazine

Try to get hold of a copy. Issue 4 has the normal printed edition, but also a limited edition version with a hand screen printed 'cover' by Louis Vincent.

This is what they say about themselves . . .

'WRAP is a large format illustration and design magazine that launched in 2010 and is run by Chris and Polly, and edited by Harry. Hello!

WRAP is unique – it's a magazine AND a product (wrapping paper) in one. Held together in a hard cover with a large elastic band and no staples, each page has a print on the reverse and is easily pulled out and re-used to wrap gifts.

We publish work by talented up-and-coming and established artists from all over the world. By printing their work on a large scale along with an interview, people who buy and read Wrap gain a real sense and understanding of what makes our
contributors the talented folk they are.'

Camac Designs - what we do

We are a brand new company set up to encourage & develop links between the design based creative industries & the next generation of up & coming designers.

We want to use this blog as a way of letting everyone know what we are up to. We also want to use it as a way of sharing, & discussing the exciting things that are happening in design today.
